Quality in the classroom – A conference on School Education

Calidad en la aula – Una Conferencia sobre Educación Escolar - Kathmandu, Nepal

The Department of Education of Nepal in collaboration with the Rato Bangala Foundation (RBF) hosted Nepal’s first ever international Conference in School Education in April 2013. The event brought together education stakeholders, leaders, international experts, classroom practitioners, policymakers and development partners with the aim to share ideas and showcase best practices on how processes of teaching and learning can bring quality in the classrooms.
Vicky Colbert was invited as keynote speaker to present the Escuela Nueva model and trajectory improving the quality education and learning. Read more

Fundación Escuela Nueva present at the Skoll World Forum 2013

Each year, nearly 1.000 of the world’s most influential social entrepreneurs, key thought leaders and strategic partners gather at the Säid Business School in Oxford to exchange ideas, solutions and information.
Vicky Colbert, founder and director of Fundación Escuela Nueva (FEN) and past awardee, participated in the 10th version of the Skoll World Forum which took place in Oxford from the 10th-12th of April 2013. This forum is a lively space to meet and share thoughts, ideas and innovations with influential social entrepreneurs from around the world. Read more

Award ceremony for the Henry R. Kravis Prize in Nonprofit Leadership

As past awardee of this prize, Vicky Colbert was invited to participate in the 9th version of the Henry R. Kravis Prize. This event was an excellent opportunity to strengthen further collaborations with both, the Claremont McKenna College and the Kravis Prize recipients and organizers which all have outstanding backgrounds in leadership and social entrepreneurship.
The Henry R. Kravis Leadership Prize is presented and administered by Claremont McKenna College (CMC) of California and recognizes extraordinary leadership in the non-profit sector. It was established in 2006 by Mr. Kravis, founding partner, co-chairman and co-CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Mrs. Kravis, an economist and senior fellow of the Hudson Institute. Read more

FEN facilitates sporting initiative sponsored by KEUCO



The German company KEUCO hosted two infantile football teams from the school Gimnasio Santander from Tunja (Boyacá). The kids received the official dress of the German football team Borussia Dortmund (BVB) which is considered to be one of the most successful teams in Europe at this time. This event was supported by Fundación Escuela Nueva (FEN) which established the contact between the German company and the school in Tunja. This contact set the base for the event on 3rd of April in the office of KEUCO in Bogotá and future sports activities. Read more

New alliance with Caring for Colombia (CFC)

Caring for Colombia (CFC) connects donors with reputable projects and programs that aim to build a more peaceful society in Colombia. FEN was selected by CfC to be a part of their portfolio of effective, successful nonprofits that work toward that purpose.
CfC’s main objective is to promote initiatives that aim to improve the situation of vulnerable communities in Colombia in the areas of education, health, art and creativity. CfC is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in New York that allows donors to make tax deductible donations to FEN and its projects. Read more

Project in Turbo, Antioquia

Jointly with the Secretary of Education of the municipality of Turbo in the department of Antioquia, in March, 2013 FEN developed an initiative to strengthen the Escuela Nueva model in this municipality through the provision of our Escuela Nueva learning guides for students from Preschool to 7th grade and the development of training workshops for teachers of the municipality.
For advancing this initiative, FEN collaborated with the educational local authority which is committed to improving the quality of education of over 7.500 students. Furthermore, FEN will donate learning guides for students in the areas of Technology and Ethics and Human Values.
With this project, the municipality of Turbo is contributing to its educational development goals and the schools, teachers and children will be equipped with effective tools and strategies to improve pedagogical practices and learning outcomes.
