The vast majority of first-year teachers are not prepared to implement the Escuela Nueva-Escuela Activa model in the classroom, as teaching institutions favor the traditional monograde classroom setting (one teacher per grade). The Escuela Nueva Foundation, conscious of its responsibility for improving the quality of education, conducts ongoing professional development to help teachers be more effective in the classroom and fully understand the learning model.
In rural areas there are high rates of teacher turnover, and retaining well-trained teachers is difficult. This frequent turnover of teachers is often overlooked by administrators, resulting in poorer educational delivery for students in these areas, compared to their urban peers. The Escuela Nueva Foundation understands the special needs of rural schools, and has established ongoing professional development programs to guarantee the delivery of high quality education to all students.
The Escuela Nueva Foundation’s Teacher Training Program ensures that teachers who graduate from traditional teacher colleges are able to properly implement the Escuela Nueva-Escuela Activa model, with a full understanding of its methodology, classroom management, and learning guides. |
