ENF Recognized as International Leader During the WISE
The Escuela Nueva Foundation and its Executive Director, Vicky Colbert, received one of the six WISE Awards given by the Qatar Foundation worldwide, in recognition of their exceptional and outstanding achievements within the theme of Pluralism in education.
The WISE Awards 2009 recognize and celebrate outstanding practice and achievements within three themes: Pluralism, Sustainability and Innovation in education. Committed to showcasing and rewarding exceptional educational innovations of the 21st century, the WISE Awards 2009 were showcased to the global educational community in Doha, Qatar, with more than 1000 participants, during the first version of the WISE Forum that took place on November 16th-18th.

This first year attracted close to 800 entries distributed as follows over the 3 categories: 103 applications on Pluralism; 69 on Sustainability; 226 on Innovation. Applications were drawn from all over the world: 110 from Africa / 92 from Asia & Oceania / 80 from Europe / 35 from Middle East / 56 from North America / 25 from South and Latin America.
A high-profile International Jury selected the 6 laureates of the WISE Awards 2009. The International Jury consists of a chair, a vice chair and 9 of the world’s leading experts in pluralism, sustainability and innovation in education, drawn from public institutions, civil society, the private sector, international organizations, universities and social entrepreneurs. They were tasked with identifying the six most significant achievements that have contributed to improving Pluralism, Sustainability and Innovation in the field of education.
