In Colombia, nearly 75% of the population is located in urban areas, but many citizens have no access to an education that will prepare them for a globalized world. The Escuela Nueva Foundation understands that education is a fundamental right, and provides training in learning strategies that enable economic development and entrepreneurship.
 
The Urban Schools Program:

• Trains teachers to handle active teaching strategies in the classroom.
• Guides classrooms in how to implement the Escuela Nueva-Escuela Activa model
• Teaches strategies to improve teaching and learning processes through self-assessment.
• Promotes active participation of families in the process of research and learning.
• Creates rules for peaceful coexistence in the classroom and across school committees
• Consolidates and empowers management teams and guides institutional self-diagnosis
