Escuela Nueva takes the school as the basic unit of change to improve coverage, quality and equity in low income schools. It put into operation basic principles of active pedagogy through concrete strategies, demonstrating that conventional passive, memoristic practices can be massively changed to a new learning paradigm based on cooperative and personalized learning.

Escuela Nueva shifted the conventional teaching approach, teacher-centered, to a participatory and cooperative, child-centered approach.

Focusing on this approach, the Escuela Nueva Foundation works in five core Programs that benefit children, youth, teachers, families, communities and education administrators.
