Fundación Escuela Nueva was selected as one of top 100 NGO’s of the world.
The selection was made by The Global Journal, a Swiss publication that, in its current edition, recognizes the important role of NGO’s as influential agents of change on a global scale that impact the lives of millions of people around the world.
Through its selection of the Top 100 Best NGO’s, The Global Journal aims to highlight the work of NGO’s at the forefront of developments in various fields from humanitarian aid and the environment to public health and education, microfinance, and intellectual property, among others.
Fundación Escuela Nueva was selected for its exemplary work over the past 25 years, contributing to the improvement of educational quality, coverage, efficiency and sustainability in both rural and urban basic education. It has achieved this through the implementation of the Escuela Nueva model, and its efforts to impact public policy as well as its continued capacity to innovate in order to adapt its model and pedagogies to new contexts, populations and countries.
The Wikimedia Foundation heads the list of the Top 100 Best NGOs. Other organizations that made it into the top 100 are Partners in Health, Human Rights Watch, Save the Children International, Amnesty International, Oxfam, Pratham and the Colombian Gaia Amazonas.
The Henry R. Kravis Prize in leadership awarded to Vicky Colbert
Claremont McKenna College (CMC) announced today that Vicky Colbert was awarded the sixth annual Henry R. Kravis Prize in Leadership. The Kravis Prize recognizes extraordinary leadership in the nonprofit sector. Ms. Colbert will be presented with The Kravis Prize at a ceremony on March 22 in New York City.
Ms. Colbert founded the nonprofit organization Escuela Nueva Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of education in low-income schools across the globe. Since its inception, the organization’s innovative educational model has reached more than five million children in Latin America and has influenced education models in Africa and Asia.
