Escuela Nueva Leadership and community

In “teamwork with the community, with my students and with parents is one of the greatest prizes that Escuela Nueva has given to me” has being said by teacher Raúl Amézquita from the Rural School Brasilia, in the municipality of San Juan de Arama in Meta (department) , and in that way pledged his commitment with his neighbors.
The Fundación Escuela Nueva Volvamos a la Gente is working in the Parent meetings that are currently being done in nearly 500 schools in meta, registered the community component of the Escuela Nueva Model, that has helped Boys and girls, teachers, parents and community in general, to achieve a unity that will allow the rebirth of the community as a whole.
In this meeting with the community in the Brasilia district, we could see the importance of the parents involvement, whose during a community lunch, found the best pretext to meet and turn a hot and humid day into a day of solidarity, leadership and compromise with the school that educates their sons and daughters.
Even the School Principal Mr Javier Pinilla, was emphatic to say that “ the school isn`t just four ways and books, a school is made by children and the community; where the school is the center that summons the community to propose projects and alternatives that will point the way in paths of welfare and improvement”.

Introductory Workshop in Casanare
The Fundación Escuela Nueva Volvamos a la Gente in association with the secretary of education and culture of Casanare ( Colombia) made during the week of the 25th of January the Introductory Workshop to the Escuela Nueva Pedagogical Method, in the municipalities of Yopal, Paz de Ariporo and Monterrey, it was attended by 183 teachers of rural areas of 19 municipalities of the department.
During the 5 days of the workshop the teachers lived the fundaments, principals and strategies of the Escuela Nueva Model and its 4 Components, they moved toward the inclusion of TICS in the Classroom from its pedagogical intention, shared their experiences, and apprenticeships, enriched their teaching experiences and compromised on the enhancing of their teaching practices in favor of a more integral relevant education and quality for their kids, families and communities. |

ENF Recognized as International Leader During the WISE
The Escuela Nueva Foundation and its Executive Director, Vicky Colbert, received one of the six WISE Awards given by the Qatar Foundation worldwide, in recognition of their exceptional and outstanding achievements within the theme of Pluralism in education.
The WISE Awards 2009 recognize and celebrate outstanding practice and achievements within three themes: Pluralism, Sustainability and Innovation in education. Committed to showcasing and rewarding exceptional educational innovations of the 21st century, the WISE Awards 2009 were showcased to the global educational community in Doha, Qatar, with more than 1000 participants, during the first version of the WISE Forum that took place on November 16th-18th.
